    Sir/Madam,
I have been writing to you since 16/04/17, detailing my complaints concerning service received from BMW Strasbourg, and BMW Munich, and my local dealership, BMW Angouleme. Despite many emails, phone calls, and visits to the dealership, I have to date receievd one call from BMW Munich ( Technical Support ), telling me why they are unable to resolve my complaints. I had to point out to them the details of the problem, as they had clearly not read all my correspondence. In fact, they merely added to the mis information that I hd been getting all along. Customer Service at BMW seems to be at best shambolic, and at worst totally disinteredted in the customer. I trust that SOMEONE in your organisation will read the emails, and do me the common courtesy of a response, and a resolution, as suggested in my last email.
I am not hopeful of your attention, and will therefore resort to contacting your CEO shortly.
    Regards, Nicola Bailey

    To,
    The Concerned Team

Sub: Bmw X5 broke down in just 1 and half feet water and the engine is seized

Hello, I own a Bmw X5 which was purchased from Navnit Motors Bangalore on Jan 22/2016 which is done about 35,000 kms.
Recently on September 27th/2017 night my car broke down in the centre of the road while negotaiting just 1 and half feet of water and i was horrified and because of my car the whole ongoing traffic was stuck for 3 hours. Immediately after the car broke down i called for the bmw helpline, they send their person after 1 hour , then i realised they have sent a third party person called allianz who didn’t know how to release the gear mechanically or engage the car to neutral so that they could tow it. FYI he had come with the small tool kit which didn’t even have the right equipment’s to even open the underneath flap, I’m sure with that particular tool kit he won’t be able to repair even a bicycle!! Finally a bmw technician arrives to the spot after 5 hours and he takes another good 2 hours to put engage the car in neutral.
I was horrified with this experience and never even dreamt that i will be standing in the heavy rain for 5 hours with my family after paying 90 lakhs of indian rupees when i couldn’t negotiate even 1 and half feet of water, when you guys claim this car is a off roader. I was wondering what if i had actually taken the car for offloading I’m sure it would have been a nightmare.

After all this when i goto the company with my insurance claim documents, they said they will be starting the work as soon as the insurance guys give the work order approval on top of that your bmw service engineer requests me to talk to the insurance guys to get the approval done , is it some kinda joke??! When the company is tied up with the insurance companies , isn’t it their job is to see to it to get the approval done instead of asking the customer to help them out.

FYI its been 16 days i get to know from your company that they haven’t touched the car till date. I have bought the car on bank loan and I’m paying the amount of 2 lakh rupees odd as interest and principal [EMI] for not even having the car with me. Now your service people from Navnit motors BMW has said they will be taking more time something like 2 months , god alone knows when I’m going to get the car and i have to pay the EMI for the next 2 months for not having the car.

This is my second Bmw and i have always been a very big fan of Bmw . I guess now i have to change my likings for brand as well.

Till date i haven’t got a proper response from Bmw Navnit motors India. Im very sure even if i get the car done after 2 months the car won’t have the original feel to it and even i goto sell the car it might go for peanuts since the engine had got seized and the parts were replaced.
As a customer i shouldn’t be facing this since the car broke down in just 1 and half feet of water is insane. Its very disappointing how you guys claim the car is an off-roader and engine breaks down in just 1 and half feet of water.

So i request you to replace the whole car or else please keep your damn car with yourself so i will be going legal. After paying so much for the car you don’t expect to get stuck in the rain for 5 to 6 hours for poor road assistance and a useless car. I’m sure after this I will never be stepping into A Bmw showroom to buy another vehicle.

I have even taken a video after the incident on how horrific the experience was.

So I expect you guys to take some action and give good after sales service to the customer.

I recently traded my 2010 X3 for a 2017 X3 and am very disappointed by the lack of daytime lighting for the instrument cluster – this is especially aggravating while driving with sunglasses and the speedometer and other gauges become barely readable. The first time I noticed it I thought that a fuse had blown – but it hadn’t. I never experienced this on my previous BMW X3 or 325 cars. This is both a comfort and safety issue. Does BMW have a fix for this or plan to address it?

  • Tiffany Rodak November 9, 2017, 4:42 am

I Love my BMW… However, the people they hire to work on them are another story! I have a major issue with my coolant and oil completely drainging out, no leaks but tank is bone dry. I have dropped it off a few time letting them know I have white smoke poring out of the mufflers and coolant tank is completely empty. Over the past few months, my car has been given back to me with the issue unresolved, that they checked for leaks and none were found… Than its a different issue!? my coolant light is now on AGAIN and i just got my car back 2 weeks ago! BONE DRY AGAIN.. now my service advisor (who is awesome) tells me my warranty also expired in Sept…! I pay $800 a month for my car, I love my car but when there is a clear issue this bad and the dealerships own machanics cant find a different issue other than a possible leak, like maybe its a head gasket issue?? which would have been covered the first time I dropped it off months ago, to be fixed! now going back over this last receipt, I actually think they gave my car back to me without adding coolant back into it.. This is a major problem! I am ruining my engine driving it everyday and BMW cant even fix it!

First of all I would like to express my real regret being unsatisfied towards the BMW Brand in spite of the fact that I consider myself as a Loyal customer since more than 10 years while both my older and younger brothers are having Mercedes cars .

I owned previously BMW 316 followed by BMW 320 and now I have an X3 one aiming for the X5 soon , I hope . Unfortunately I had very bad experience each time I got one of BMW cars . The first BMW 316 had a Cardan shaft has to be replaced before 20,000 Km while the second BMW 320 had an issue in the Gear Box before 120,000 Km.
Now , having another issue for the X3 that I currently have , Chassis DABWX35030LY99310 and I assure that I do respect any car maintenance on time ( you can refer to the maintenance center in Alexandria, Egypt where I live ) .
I had a message on the car monitor shows something wrong related to the motor. The maintenance department confirmed that the diagnosis as follows :
Wiring harness (valve cable) has to be changed , it’s not available in stock in Egypt ( means uncommon to be changed ) and I waited more than three weeks till they got it from BMW Germany .
Unfortunately , the valve cable does not solve the problem so they switch to the second step , changing the valve actuator (motor valve) which was fortunate available in stock . Motor valve has been changed but the problem is still there which meant switching to the third step .
Engine control (motor engine) but for this part they have to wait , as they said , till final reply from BMW Germany which never happened till today , for more than a week now.
Now, I am without my car for more than a month and I expect another month till BMW Germany reply , then BMW Egypt confirm and get the Engine control from Germany and fix it !!!!!!!!!
Contrary to my situation , when any of my brothers have any issue with their Mercedes that may take long time , Mercedes Agent give him similar car to use during that period which never offered by BMW .

Regardless these touchy points of Mercedes , I am sending this complaint for you to investigate from your end and I reserve my right for an explanation and a radical solution for my case, despite my old 316 and 320 which I thought it was only a matter of bad luck , but at least my current BMW X3 that is only recording 140,000 Km and needs to change these parts , specifically , the Engine Control unless it is a car manufacturing defect .
I also reserve my right for a compensation for the time I spent and will spend without my car due to uncommon defects and rarely changing parts that never happen in Korean Cars with all my respect to them .

  • Amgad Y Elashi November 14, 2017, 6:10 pm

    Dear BMW team,

I am Dr. Amgad Elashi, a Canadian citizen living in Cairo, Egypt.

I am an old BMW owner, and me and my family always have been so in love and big fans on BMW cars.

But unfortunately, I am writing you this message as huge complain from the disappointing Bavarian Auto Egypt.

I have booked two cars, the first car is 2018 340i F30 M-sport for myself and the second car is 2018 520i G30 Luxury for my father.

The first car was booked in July 2017 (paid 200,000EGP as deposit), and I was told by the salesman that the car should be ready in 3 months at most. But sadly every week I call them, they say sorry the car is still not produced and we don’t know when is the production schedule, and even now they stopped answering my calls.

The second car was booked in September 2017 (paid 400,000EGP as deposit), and was told by salesman that cars are ready to deliver within 2 weeks because its imported car. Also unfortunately, I did not receive the second car till now as well, but sadly more than 35 cars were delivered to other customers that are not real customers but they are reselling the cars back into the black market with very very high price.

I have called the sales manager and complained many times but without any change, always they give me excuses and useless promises, meanwhile they are intending to sell all cars to dealers first to sell these cars in the market to make under table money profit.

It is very clear how this is going, and thats why I am asking you and have no other choice but to put this problem in front of you and I am sure that you will support my situation as an old sincere BMW customer and I was supposed to receive my two cars very early and even earlier than anyone else.

Please take my complain very seriously and hope to receive your reply soon with the solution I deserve,

    Regards

Good day, My name is Mkhanyiselwa Dladla, registration no: FL36DBGP, body NO: WBS4Z92070EA34394, I sincerely need your advice and if possible your help, I bought an M4 this year on 15 February 2017, I took delivery of the car, the car was a demo, i paid R 1 300 000. less than 5 days after deliver I noticed a clicking sound on the front wheels, I phoned the dealer they booked it in, they then changed all disc and brake pads, but unfortunately the noise persisted, I took it back again still the same noise came up it was the fro almost 4 weeks, I then took it to another dealer Jo’burg city auto 03 march 2017, they changed bearings and stabilizer it was the for almost three months it was there for almost 3 months, but still the same noise persisted, I took it back again still the same noise, I took it back again still the same noise, It then gave me an error message on the 08 September 2017 at 22:20 indicating that the cat is not drivable, I took it to Auto Bavaria Midrand where it stayed for two months since the 9th of September until 06 October 2017, they said the car is fixed I went to take delivery of the car, on the 11 of November 2017, I noticed that the same noise is still the, but the issue now is that I have indicated to BMW that I don’t want the car anymore because too many technicians have worked on the car and I don’t trust it since this is a critical part a front suspension, and I gave them enough time to try and fix the car even now they are still unable, even now the car is with  the dealer they are saying they have changed everything on the suspension but still the noise is the, and they have evaluated the car I must pay R 380 000 to get a knew one to replace this one. When I went the on the ninth of November 2017 they gave me a knew quote to the value of R 1 360 000 this is the same car but a brand knew car, of which the difference between the value that I paid for my car and this one is R 60 000, off which I am willing to pay that R60 000. BMW South Africa is saying that my car is worth R 820 000 from the value of R 1 300 000 since 15 February 2017, I was not trading in my car but the problem is that they have failed to fix the car on many attempts and now they are trying to subject me to the current value of the car in order to rob me, what about the insurance of R 3650 and the tracker for R 170 that I pay every month even if the car is in their possession for more than 5 months, and the value of the car that I have paid, BMW is not considerate to me at all, the sad part is that the car has been practically with them in most of the time than me as the owner of the but I am the one who must pay more than them. They are saying i should pay R 380 000.00 for me to get another car they have contributed R 80 000 towards the deal, this is not my fault that the car has a fault which they have failed to repair for more than 7 times, and even currently now they are still unable to fix the car, they didn’t even give me a courtesy car in order to further my commitments I have borrowed a car, they are saying in order to give me a courtesy I must first indicate whether I give them a chance to try and fix the car or pay the amount of R 380 000.  I bought a BMW because it is the brand that I have been with for sometimes now but what they are doing is to insult my intelligence to a degree that it is unspeakable. I have been very much reasonable with them even now I am still reasonable.

Thank you, your urgent assistance will be very appreciated.

My request for a replacement car or full refund has been rejected. The car has stopped in the middle of road for 3 times and sent for repairs 3 times already. They kept it for a total of 51 days and now refused to replace. Please assist me. Thanks you

Hi I recently bought a BMW X5 2012 40000 miles at Parks BMW Hamilton Scotland. It was a approved used BMW car so I expected the car to be checked over properly before I bought it. After a few days I washed the car and found 7 corrosion spots all over the car, bonnet under the grill rear tailgate inside as you open it the door sill inside the door the list goes on. I took the car back that day to be told they would book it in in 3 weeks to get the warranty man out to see it. In the mean time I have had the car looked at to find the areas of rust / corrosion have all been re painted with no paperwork or any part of the paint warranty filled out in the book I had my droughts wither it would be covered under the 12 year corrosion warranty. I expressed my views to BMW parks sales manager who told me if it wasn’t covered with the warranty the would not fix 7 areas of the car and advised I should buy a 1 year old BMW instead ??? I tryed to return the car in September under the consumers right act 2015 but after 9 weeks BMW finance disagrees that the car should be returned stating that these rust spots are normal for a 4 year old BMW. The financial omnibus has been involved for 4 weeks and he agrees the car should be returned and I should be paid compensation for the whole mess as we were advised not to drive the car now for 12weeeks but are still fully paiyin for it each month. Now BMW finance are still saying that this car should rust after 4 years old and it is not sub standard. Is this a problem with all BMW s or is it just the x5 as I have emails and a recorded phone conversation from a BMW representative stating corrosion on a 4 year old x5 40000 £25000 is not sub standard. If this is the case I believe the public should know how a aparrently BMWs have issues with corrosion. I will look forward to your reply

  • Omar December 16, 2017, 4:11 pm

Reading these comments tells me that i should not be hopeful of an answer soon, unfortunately.
My issue is that the BMW maintenance team tells me that my the front break pads (Discs also) need replacement even if the OBC indicates this service to be done after 19,000 Km. I am suspicious that the Maintenance team did not replace the pads before and they reset the OBC counter, causing the Pads to be worn out and Discs to be damaged from over use.
I think I am being ripped off here.. I hope BMW customer service will clarify why I need to replace the Front Breaks 19,000Km early..!!?

  • Alok Srivastava January 25, 2018, 2:09 pm

This is a complaint that I am taking to consumer forum but before I do This, I thought i must apprise BMW with series of issues with your services at Navnit Motors,Mumbai,India. My vehicle MH43 R 7900 is a 2007 make 320d…quite unfortunate to possess a brand BMW and undergo traumatic experience

3 weeks ago I sent my car for service…issue vibration in the cabin and also a slight jerk in an idle condition, ano other issue AT ALL But for suspension work that I knew for sure

It has been close to a#month now and my vehicle is being held back on one or the other pretext…first they damaged the pull and now for last one week they say that the engine isn’t switching on…what a joke and mockery of the brand…a vehicle driven by BMW MECHANIC who took this to work shop didn’t had this problem …mishandling to extract more money is clearly the case…

Service advisors helpless and General Manager irresponsible…recipe for disaster…i have incurred INR of over 30k by now due to travel and do essential stuff…I have been traumatised with cost for redoing service all along

I am certainly taking this matter to consumer court and would expect least for returning my machine that is been held back to squeeze money out of customers

I don’t recommend anyone to become a customer of Navit Motors…BMW you got a chance to address my issue and address it NOW !

I just sent your HQ a report from DEKRA highlighting a known fault with your F11 520d engines according to their engineer . I’m hoping for a positive response.

  • Nada Abdellatif May 10, 2018, 4:01 am

    Dear BMW,
My name is Nada Abdellatif from Cairo, Egypt.
Your reputation in the car industry has not been questionable for as long as I can personally remember. However, i have encountered a life-threatening experience whilst aboard my 2017 BMW X1 1500cc, and in stationary mode.
To vividly explain the situation, an irresponsible reckless 25 year-old was speeding at 160 km/h (Hyundai Elantra) and massively impacted the rear of my car. And may I mention again, the car was in stationary mode in the right-most lane (the slow lane) and the engine was working as I was sitting in the AC with my mother. For more clarification, my seatbelt was fastened (the driver’s seat) and my mother’s seatbelt was not (the passenger’s seat). Because of this massive impact, the car with all its weight jumped forward and impacted another car parked in-front of me (Chevrolet Optra). As a result, my seatbelt fastened me to my seat and managed to save me from massive injuries. However, my mother’s whole body hit the front glass and managed to break the glass and create a hole behind the middle mirror with her head. She suffered from amnesia for more than a week.
The purpose behind this email is that after all what I have previously explained not one airbag has functioned. Not one airbag amongst the numerous airbags in the car have opened to reduce the risk of my mother of getting an injury. The car underwent both rear and front impacts and no airbags were opened.
I am aware of the recall that happened because of problems with the car’s airbags and I sent the car to the BMW agency here in Cairo. The agency was also aware of this recall and informed me that the problem has been fixed and no worries should be put into consideration. After what happened and after the near death experience, I have no trust in my agency as it is responsible for what happened. All I want is an explanation for what happened and an explanation for why the airbags did not open. And I am personally asking for your advice and for the steps that should be taken. The main reason for me choosing this car is its safety system. How could this be the reason of the probable death of me and my mother? And again, the car was parked. Which is why, even after repairing the car, I cannot trust in driving it again and I cannot trust my country’s BMW agency. And because I have chosen your company for that safety reason I am requesting urgent advice. Either demanding a new safe car from your company or firing a lawsuit against it for not satisfying my safety.
Thank you in advance and I am sure that your company will be willing to help.

Hello. I wish to inform you that I have purchased a BMW car of model 316i bearing the chassis number WBA3A1200FJ292889 and registration mark: 214 on 09 June 2015 from the authorized company of BMW named Leal Co. Ltd. I have driven the car for only only about 52000 km up to now. I have undergone 3 servicing at Leal Co ltd and last servicing in a registered garage for repair of BMW cars only. The hydraulic ABS pump for braking system (hydro unit DSC) is defective and need to be replaced a new. Being given that the car has run less than 100,000 km and it’s a manufacturing defect, I believe that the above mentioned spare parts should be changed under warranty by the Service Provider , Leal Co. Ltd. I don’t agree to pay the cost of the spare parts which amounts to Rs 157,000 plus 15% VAT. The price of the spare parts also is excessively high (more than 15 % compared to the price of the car). But Leal Co Ltd is not agreeable to repair same under warranty. I am very disappointed and such shortcoming will definitely reduce BMW lovers and
I humbly request you to interfere in the matter.
    Thanks and best regards.

I have owned “air head BMW’s for years. I just bought a 2004 r1150r oil head a few months ago. I have read and heard about the input shafts stripping out with a very high cost for repairs. Every thing I read about this problem says to lubricate the splines about once a year to lessen the odds of stripping the splines out. This is a huge undertaking for a problem that should not exist considering the cost of tearing the bike apart or paying a mechanic for a full days work plus parts. BMW used to be very dependable but not anymore. Just as bad is the fact that BMW does not manufacture the input shafts in order to repair the motorcycles. There are after market clutch discs with longer splines that may or may not fix the problem. I guess I will try to sell the motorcycle before it self destructs and buy a dependable Japanese bike. My now deceased father and I have been BMW fans for over 40 years and I hate that BMW has stopped making quality motorcycles not to mention they don’t stand by to help their long time loyal customers. If you happen to know what I can do to be able to keep this motorcycle with the same confidence that I had with my older BMW’s, please let me know. Keith Wilson
